For this week’s edition of FinanciElle “$tatements”, I had the opportunity to interview Candyce Costa, B2B Digital Marketing and Social Media Consultant and Founder of Digital Business Women eMagazine.
Digital Business Women magazine promotes women in Digital and Tech businesses.
They want to inspire and motivate women around the globe to share real experiences in entrepreneurship and career to support them to keep going.
Paolina: What has been your hardest experience dealing with your businesses and finance/money and what did you learn?
Candyce:
My hardest experience has been keeping the cash flow in the business. Working as a consultant, I have gaps between projects and sometimes, no income. To be able to organize my business finances, I’ve learned that I need to work in 12 month windows; taking into consideration all the projects happening and keeping the expenses paid in a yearly payment when there is this option.
Paolina: What advice do you wish you had gotten about finance when you were first starting your business?
Candyce:
When my business started, I had some support from a local business organization which gave me the basics to start – in my personal experience, I’d love more help with taxes – this is my major issue, understanding taxation in the UK and knowing what I am doing.
Paolina: You’ve produced 7 issues of Digital Business Women Magazine so far, and I know that every woman you feature is fantastic , I have the same feeling doing this blog; but, if you could invite one woman featured from each magazine to a dinner party, who would you pick and why?
Candyce:
From women that I have interviewed, I would invite Julie Hall, Chantel Soumis, Judi Fox, Shelly Elsliger, Kristin Gallucci, Sayuri Nishimoto, Michaela Alexis, all of them are super smart marketers and I totally respect their talent and experience so it would be an evening focused on marketing for sure!
